  • 1 cup butter Softened at room temperature; do not melt.

  • 2 whole eggs Use room temperature eggs for better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla extract for best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Leavening agent for the cake.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavors; do not skip.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients, avoid overmixing the batter, and let the cake cool properly before slicing. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
