Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Base of the paratha, gives it a soft texture.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 cup water (or as needed) Adjust until smooth and pourable.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped Adds moisture, sweetness, and flavor.
  • 2 pcs green chilies, finely chopped Adjust for spiciness.
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped Adds brightness to the dish.

For Frying

  • as needed oil or ghee Ensures crispiness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Slowly add water, about a quarter cup at a time, until smooth.
  • Once the dough is smooth, fold in the chopped onions, green chilies, and coriander leaves.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a tablespoon of oil or ghee.
  • Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the hot pan and spread it out slightly with the back of the ladle.
  • Cook on one side until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until crisp.
  • Transfer the cooked paratha to a plate and cover with a kitchen towel to keep warm. Repeat until all batter is cooked.

Serving

  • Serve hot with yogurt or chutney, enjoying the crispy texture.

Notes

Allow the batter to rest for at least 15 minutes before cooking. You can freeze uncooked parathas, cooking them directly from frozen.
