Batter Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Do not replace with margarine.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Helps the dessert rise and become fluffy.

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds a lovely warm undertone.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss fruit with half of the sugar and set aside.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, remaining sugar, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking dish, then spoon the fruit mixture on top without stirring.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use fresh, ripe fruit for best flavor. You can use dairy or gluten-free alternatives as needed.
