  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla for the best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Essential for the cake to rise.
  • 1/2 cup milk Whole milk is best, but feel free to substitute.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine flour and baking powder in another bowl and whisk gently.
  • Alternate adding the dry mix and milk to the creamed mixture, starting and ending with the flour.
  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Don't skip the cooling time as cutting into the cake too early may lead to crumbling. You can also experiment with spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg for added flavor.
